Today I stole into town to see Werner Herzog’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams. I was expecting a lot; not only from the now, sadly, rare absence of the phrase ‘visionary director’ in the film’s marketing, but in the prospect of seeing the year’s only release not starring Natalie Portman. I hotly anticipated both the latest work of a great mind, and the application of 3D technology by said great mind.
I was, however, disappointed.
Here Herzog and his team explore the caves which, until relatively recently, have been hermetically sealed for over thirty thousand years.

…and just in case you thought we were behind the times, for an extra £2.50 you can see it in 3D.
